Spiked

On opening day of the season, an Oregon player punched an opposing player and was suspended for the year by his coach.  Last week, Brandon Spikes of the Tebows tried to gouge out the eye of the opposing running back and was suspended for one half of one game by Tebow coach Urban Meyer.  I think this is shameful:  shameful behavior on the part of Spikes and shameful behavior on the part of the Coach.

  2. The Oregon players name is Blount and he has been reinstated this week.

  3. As I understand it, the guy Blount punched said something derogatory to Blount immediately before the punch. In other words, he was egging Blount on. Not an excuse, but I do get how in the heat of the competition Blount could have blown up at these remarks (which may have been racial, as I recall). Also, reportedly Blount was genuinely contrite and has done everything asked of him to deal with his "anger" issues. I don't have a problem with him being reinstated. Conversely, Spikes intentionally put his hand inside the runner's helmet and purposefully gouged the guy's eye. The play was over and done and Spikes wasn't reacting to anything. He was just being a thug.

  4. Well said Lsquared! I couldn't agree more...Blount has some control issues and has done everything asked of him. If he does it again, tell him that McDonald's is hiring. The other guy could have changed ruined someone's life for ever....what a monster.
