Wade should have b***h slapped that right corner on tv in front of God and everybody
I watched a good bit of the game when I wasn't so mad I turned it off and went to read economics papers because it was more fun. That jenkins or jennings or jinx kid is dead as a d-back from now on. Every ref in the league now knows he grabs on to everyone he gets near. I feel sorry for his girlfriend. They need to tape his hands together like a flipper. I haven't seen anyone beaten like that since Walter Mondale. I hope this kid disappears from the scene as fast. Jeez. i always rather liked wade Phillips but he is gone. Cowgirl fans better start a letter campaign to Cowher. He would get them back in jockstraps instead of petticoats. They would all be afraid he might bite them. Kudos to Romo though. The guy is fun to watch.

Stinkin' Cowboys
Who here thinks this group of punks can beat New Orleans, San Diego, Philly, Washington or any combination thereof? Oxey thinks the coach should take a tip from the Giants and pull some starters, starting with Romo. Is there a way to pull the coach?

NFL Talk
Tampa Bay was a team that I expected the Cowboys to beat and they did. The win wasn't particularly glorious, but we take them where we can. Romo seemed off the first half and the run defense was stinko malo but maybe they drank a few beers at half-time because they played better in the second half. Receivers looked good, but I don't know if that is because they are good or because the Tampa defense had a few breakdowns. Who cares. I would like to have seen more of Felix Jones, though. Next week the Cowboys face the Giants. I just watched the Giants -Redskins game: pretty good D but fairly anemic offense.
Donovan McNabb broke a rib so we may be seeing Joe Mexico at QB once his suspension is complete.
Matt Stafford: 3 ints in loss to New Orleans.
Jake Delhomme: muy stinko malo. 4 turnovers, at least. I lost count.
Adrian Peterson: unreal. One of his t.d. runs will be repeated all year. I can't even begin to describe it, so look for it on the interweb.
Midway through the 4th, San Francisco is leading the Cardinals, 20-14. Being from Dallas, I hate the 49ers as a matter of principle, but I like Mike Singletary. I have no particular love for the Cardinals, but I do like Larry Fitzgerald, who is simply tremendous and who I covet for the Cowboys.
Tonight: Bears verses Packers. GO BEARS.

The End is Here
Here are some of the people who got waived, released, or terminated by NFL teams over the weekend: Maurice Purify, Brooks Bollinger, Billy Cundiff, John David Booty, Rhett Bomar, Zach Thomas, Chase Daniel, David Tyree, Joey Harrington, and Jeff Garcia. Lots of QB's on that list. As for the Cowboys, they finally have given up on Isaiah Stanback. Rudy Carpenter, free-agent QB, was released but is expected to be picked up for the practice squad. Aggie Stephen McGee is hurt, but still on the team. Question: is Bobby Carpenter worth keeping? He just seems a step late on everthing.

Here's how I think it will go: wins over Tampa, Denver, Kansas City, Seattle, Green Bay, Oakland, and New Orleans; losses to Carolina, Atlanta, and San Diego. As for division play, split with New York, Philly, and Washington (wishful thinking much?) Surely we can beat the Giants in the home opener in the new JerryWorld Stadium. I believe that ends up at 10-6, which seems high. Oh well, hope springs eternal. Predictions, anyone?
P.S. I added my predictions after sbaskind posted his because I thought it cowardly not to have done so.

Mamas, Do Let Your Sons Grow Up To Be Cowboys
Here is ESPN's list of the top ten Cowboys of all time:
1. Tom Landry
2. Roger Staubach
3. Michael Irvin
4. Bob Lily
5. Emmitt Smith
6. Troy Aikman
7. Tony Dorsett
8. Randy White
9. Don Meredith
10. Drew Pearson
Well, well, well. Tom Landry will, rightly, be associated with the Cowboys forever and he was great. I can't even begin to name all of the innovations that he brought to the game. Nonetheless, when I think of the top ten Cowboys, I think of players. So, for me, Landry isn't on that list. I mean, if Landry is on the list, Tex Schramm should be on the list as well, and maybe even Clint Murchison, who knew enough to hire Landry and Schramm and then leave them alone. So, back to the players. I am glad that Meredith made the list. I remember him in the 60's, when Dallas had both the Cowboys and the Dallas Texans, which ultimately lost the popularity contest, moved to Kansas City and became the Kansas City Chiefs. Anyway, Meredith was the QB of this miserable, untalented expansion team. Much like Archie Manning in New Orleans, Meredith took an absolute beating, game after game. He was incredibly tough and grossly underappreciated. But I think also of Don Perkins, Jethro Pugh, Harvey Martin, Lee Roy Jordan, Chuck Howley, Bob Hayes, Jay Novacek, Charlie Waters, Cliff Harris, Danny White (also underappreciated), Bob Newhouse, Walt Garrison...the list goes on and on. I guess mine would be as follows:
1. Bob Lily
2. Roger Staubach
3. Emmitt Smith
4. Troy Aikman
5. Randy White
6. Drew Pearson
7. Darren Woodson
8. Mel Renfro
9. Don Meredith
10. Michael Irvin
Tomorrow's list could be different. I do love me some Cowboys.
