Hurts So Good

I was just adding Aggie games to my calendar when I noticed that the Ags are playing the Horns on Thanksgiving Day...the actual day...just like when we were kids. Cool. Then I noticed this: the game is at 7:00 p.m. (and will be televised). How am I supposed to make it to 7:00 p.m. without combusting from nerves, anxiety, and antici...pation? I will no doubt watch the Cowboy game and go straight to the Aggie game. This is setting up to be one of those pleasure/pain, hurts-so-good type of deals. No doubt vast quantities of alcohol will help me get through it...beer me, early and often.

  1. You are correct, Lsquared. Too much in one day to deal with. I think the Cowboys play Oakland this year on Thanksgiving, so that shouldn't be too bad. But I agree, one can only take so much football anxiety in one day. And if the early (Cowboy) game goes poorly, then it is just too much to ask to get geared up for another game. The game should have remained on Friday, although last year (2008) it was on Thanksgiving day too. But last year, by the time the UT/A&M game came on, a massive amount of Beaujolais Nouveau had kicked in and nothing really mattered. And, of course, the outcome was acceptable, at least to me: UT 49 - A&M 9. (The Cowboys had beaten Seattle earlier that day -- but then managed to lose 3 of the next 4 games to end the season in grand fashion.)

    Well, there is always Xanax.
