The Aggies and the French

I am going out on a limb and picking the Aggies to defeat the Bears this week. The Aggies will thereby become bowl eligible (at 6-5) and distinguish themselves from the French Infantry (notwithstanding bbl jr.'s sentiment to the contrary), even though after the OU game the Aggies' field general noted the similarity: "We weren't very good," A&M coach Mike Sherman said. "We shot ourselves in the foot numerous times." However, I am hoping that the following week on Thanksgiving, the Aggies will re-live Waterloo with Coach Sherman playing the part of Napoleon (or even Gen. Ney) and Mack Brown as the Duke of Wellington. My great fear, however, is that the roles will be reversed - and the dream-season for the Horns will die on the grass of Kyle Field. It remains to be seen which will be the men sans-culottes. Liberté, égalité, fraternité!

  1. I currently am suffering from post-humiliation syndrome, the symptoms of which include obsessive rationalization (they play 19 freshmen, it is only Sherman's second year, etc), delusional denial (that never happened!), and chronic if-only (if only he had caught that ball...). In my case, my PHS was compounded by the Cowboy's loss to the Packers. Good gosh almighty! What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here?

  2. lsquared, I feel your pain. Maybe it will make you feel better if you think of the great USC (7-3, with 3 losses in the Pac 10 and in their last two losses the combined score was 102-41), or Michigan (5-6, but 1-6 in the Big 10), or even the mighty Notre Dame (6-4, with a home loss to Navy). Think of the new, arrogant coach of Tenn., Lane Kiffin. His team is 5-5, but 2-4 in the SEC. Remember, all things must pass. In football, there is always next year. Right now, the Aggies are undefeated in 2010. And, the Cowdogs are not dead yet.

  3. Baskind I do blieve you are an optimist, and an attorney, most unusual. I hope the aggies give Texas a good game but I do want the Horns to win the national championship. i also want McCoy to win the Heisman. I don't think he will because he thanks God too much and the east code media associate that with inbred hillbillies. But I am pulling for him any way.

  5. Thanks bbl jr. You need to buck up your little sis. She is having football depression. I have tried to get her to turn to the dark side (meaning the Horns) in an effort to cheer her up, but so far it is not working. Maybe she should become a TCU fan since you all have a connection there. And, the Horned Frogs may be the best team in Texas (or the country for that matter).
